Most salons have great work behind the chair. What they don’t have is great photography of it.
If you’re a hair stylist, suite renter, or salon owner in the Austin area, you already know what’s at stake when someone lands on your website or Instagram for the first time. They’re not reading your service menu first — they’re looking at your photos. And if those photos don’t match the quality of your work, you’ve already lost them.
This is exactly what led Verano Luxe Salon to reach out. And it’s one of my favorite projects I’ve gotten to work on.

Verano Luxe isn’t a traditional salon. Located in Leander (just northwest of Austin), they operate a private suite model — each stylist has their own fully designed room, and clients have an experience that’s one-on-one, elevated, and intentional from the moment they walk in. Think curated playlists, sparkling water, and a space that feels designed around you — not a busy open floor with 12 chairs.
That concept is genuinely special. But specialty is only valuable if people can see it. That’s where brand photography comes in.

It’s tempting to shoot on an iPhone, especially when the lighting in your suite looks good and you’re already posting between clients. But there’s a difference between a photo that captures a moment and imagery that markets your business.
For a salon, professional brand photography needs to do several things at once:
Show the space. Clients want to know what they’re walking into. A private suite model especially needs photography that communicates atmosphere — the texture of the room, the way light moves through it, the details that make it feel premium.
Humanize the stylist. People book people. Photos of you at work — not posed, but genuinely in your element — are some of the highest-converting content you can have on your website or Instagram.
Create consistency across platforms. Your website, Instagram, Google Business profile, and any press features all pull from the same visual library. One well-executed shoot gives you content that works everywhere.

For this project, I photographed two of Verano’s private suite rooms, capturing both their daytime and evening looks. The way the light shifts between those two settings tells a completely different story — daytime feels fresh and editorial, while evening shifts to something more intimate and luxurious. Both are true to the brand; both are useful for different types of content.
Alongside the room photography, we captured stylist portraits — not stiff headshots, but working portraits of each stylist in their element. Hands on hair, in conversation with a client, comfortable in a space they’ve built. That’s the imagery that makes someone stop scrolling.
The final gallery gave Verano Luxe a complete visual library: room photography, detail shots, and stylist portraits — all cohesive, all ready to use across their website and social channels.

If you’re a stylist or salon owner considering brand photography, a few things that make a significant difference in the outcome:
Shoot your space at more than one time of day. Natural light tells one story; evening or artificial light tells another. If your salon has a mood that shifts, capture both.
Include your tools and details. Foils on a color tray. Product bottles lined up. A fresh blowout in progress. These micro-details are underrated in salon photography — they communicate craft.
Don’t skip the working shots. Posed portraits have their place, but candid in-session photos are often the most-used content my clients come back to request more of.
Think about where the images will actually live. Website hero images need horizontal composition. Instagram wants near-square or portrait. If you brief your photographer on this before the shoot, you’ll get images that actually work across every format you need.

I work with independent stylists, suite renters, and full-service salons across Austin and the surrounding area — helping them build a visual library that matches the quality of the work they do every single day.
