Kids Brand Photographer Austin
When Splash About was getting ready to launch their new swimwear line, they didn’t just need photos.
They needed a full set of visuals that could actually support the launch across their website, product pages, social, and marketing.
And when you’re working with kids, in water, across multiple shoot days…
it’s never just a photoshoot.

On paper, the ask was straightforward:
But what that really meant was:
This is the kind of work that sits firmly in my brand and commercial photography world, where the images need to function across platforms, not just look good in a gallery.

This campaign came together across two locations:
We worked with approximately 15 kids over three shoot days, which meant pacing, flexibility, and efficiency were everything.
We also collaborated closely with Flashpool Productions to capture underwater photos and video alongside the above-water campaign. This gave the brand a full, multi-dimensional content library.

Before the shoot, everything was mapped around how the images would actually be used.
Not just:
“let’s get cute photos”
But:
“what does this brand need to sell this product?”
We built a shot plan that balanced:
Because the goal was not one hero image.
It was a full campaign library.
If you’re curious what that looks like across different industries, I break down more projects here:

With kids, you cannot force it.
The second it feels like:
…it falls apart.
So instead, this shoot leaned heavily into:
There was a lot of chaos in the best way.
Kids running, laughing, jumping in the pool, coming back out soaking wet and ready to go again.
And that is exactly where the best images came from.
You can always tell the difference between a “camera smile” and a real one. It shows up in their eyes, their body language, even their hands.
That difference matters when these images are being used to sell a product.

On the third day, it rained.
Out of nowhere.
No warning, no soft drizzle, just full rain in the middle of a water shoot day.
Instead of shutting things down, we worked in between the rain clouds, adjusted timing, and leaned into the fact that everyone was already wet anyway.
It ended up being one of those moments that could have thrown everything off, but actually made the shoot feel more real and dynamic.

Across all three days, we captured:
Alongside the underwater content from Flashpool Productions, the brand walked away with both above-water and underwater visuals.
For a product like swimwear, that combination is incredibly valuable, especially for social and digital marketing.

There is a big difference between kids in swimsuits and a brand campaign.
What made this one work:
This is the same approach I bring to all commercial photography projects, where the goal is always to create images that actually function for the business.

This shoot created a full content library that Splash About can use across:
Not just one or two standout images.
A cohesive set that works together. And the real question is – where aren’t they being used?!
They are EVERYWHERE. Social media, product pages, their Nordstrom, Amazon and Walmart listings.

If you’re launching a product, your photos are not just for one post or one announcement.
They become the foundation of how your brand shows up everywhere.
And the difference between:
“we got some photos”
and
“we created a campaign”
is almost always the strategy and planning that happens before the shoot.
